Business Days in a Month

Public holidays are not deducted — this counts every day that is not a weekend. Pick the month, the year and which two days your weekend falls on. A 31-day month holds 21, 22 or 23 working days depending on the weekday it starts on.

The working days of a month are the days left once the weekends are taken out, and that count is what schedules, deadlines and pay periods are actually built on. It is not a fixed number. The page opens on March 2026 with a Saturday-Sunday weekend: the month runs 31 days, nine of them fall on a Saturday or a Sunday, and 22 working days remain. Every day of the month is checked one by one against the two days you name, rather than approximated from 52 weeks — that approximation is exactly where such counts go wrong. The weekend is asked for instead of assumed, because a Friday-Saturday weekend is standard across much of the Middle East. What the result does not contain is public holidays. Only weekend days are removed, so in a month with a bank holiday the number actually worked is one or two lower, and which days those are depends on the country and the region. That is the limitation that matters most here: for anything contractual, the holiday calendar has to come off by hand. Across all months the count runs from 20 to 23.
