Result: 62.0 %Wins divided by games played, times one hundred. The only real decision is how a tie counts: half a win (the standard), ignored, or a game with no credit. A 30-18-2 record reads 62.0 %, 62.5 % or 60.0 % depending on which one you pick.

The same 30-18-2 record reads 62.0 %, 62.5 % or 60.0 % depending on the convention you pick. Settle on the one your league uses before you compare anybody.
The conventions can only differ where drawn games exist. A 30-18-0 record comes out at 62.5 % under every one of them.
That rule divides by decided games only, and a 0-0-5 record has none. The result then stays empty instead of showing a misleading zero.
A tie always counts as half a win.
Only under the standard convention, which is the default here. Other rankings drop drawn games entirely or count them as games with no credit.
An all-tie record is 50 % however you count it.
It is 50 % as half wins, 0 % when ties count as games with no credit, and undefined when ties are ignored.
This reproduces the official league table.
It gives the standard win percentage. Official tables may run on points instead — three for a win, one for a draw — and apply tiebreakers this tool does not model.
| Record (W-L-T) | Tie convention | Win % |
|---|---|---|
| 30-18-2 | Half a win | 62.0 |
| 30-18-2 | Ties ignored | 62.5 |
| 30-18-2 | Ties as games | 60.0 |
| 30-18-0 | Any convention | 62.5 |
| 5-0-0 | Any convention | 100.0 |
| 0-0-5 | Half a win | 50.0 |
Divide wins by games played and multiply by one hundred. With no ties that is simply wins ÷ (wins + losses) — a 30-18 record is 30 ÷ 48 = 62.5 %. When ties exist you choose how they count, and most standings treat a tie as half a win.
There are three common conventions. Half a win, the standard, adds 0.5 to the numerator per tie and one to the denominator. Ignoring ties uses only decided games and counting ties as games gives no credit at all: for a 30-18-2 record the three give 62.0 %, 62.5 % and 60.0 %.
Match it to your sport or league. Many standings that record ties use the half-a-win method, which is why it is the default here. Ignore ties when draws are excluded from the ranking, and count them as games when only outright wins should count.
Under the half-a-win convention an all-tie record is exactly 50 %, because each tie counts as half a win across all games. Under the ignore rule it is undefined — there are no decided games to divide by, so the result stays empty. Counting ties as games gives 0 %, since there are no outright wins.
It computes the standard win percentage, but official tables sometimes use a points system instead — three points for a win and one for a draw, say. They may also apply tiebreakers this tool does not model. Use it to compare records like for like, then check your league's own rules.
