Every amount and hour refers to the same week, in one unchanged currency.

What this number means

The calculator subtracts incremental weekly work costs from take-home pay and divides by all weekly time committed to the job. Robin's published example leaves 440 − 160 = 280 dollars over 40 + 30 = 70 hours: 4 dollars per hour. Enter take-home pay directly; the calculator does not estimate taxes.

Count only extra costs caused by the job and add unpaid time once. A zero wage means costs use all the pay; a negative wage means entered costs exceed it. Neither describes the job's benefits or career prospects.

Questions

Which week should I use?

Use one representative week for every field. Do not combine monthly pay with weekly hours.

Should all food and clothing count?

Count only the additional spending caused by the job. Keep ordinary living costs out of this input.

Does this calculate my taxes?

No. Enter the take-home pay you already receive after deductions, using one currency for pay and costs.
